About NB Jewish

NB Jewish creates a space where people can connect — through Shabbat, learning, and shared experiences.

From weekly meals to classes and social events, we are building a warm, dynamic Jewish community in Miami Beach — a home for young professionals and community members looking for meaningful Jewish connection, without barriers.

NB Jewish grew out of a simple idea: Jewish life should feel personal, not performative. There's no membership to join and no dues to pay — just an open door. Whether you're new to Miami Beach, curious about Judaism, or looking for a Friday night with real conversation and good food, you're welcome at our table exactly as you are.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before their first Shabbat with us.

Is there a cost to attend Shabbat dinners or events?

No. NB Jewish welcomes everyone regardless of ability to pay — there's no membership fee, and subsidized meals keep the door open to all. Donations are optional and help sustain the community for everyone.

Do I need to be religious or belong to a synagogue to join?

Not at all. NB Jewish is open to anyone looking for meaningful Jewish connection, whatever your background or level of observance — no membership or synagogue affiliation required.

How often are Shabbat dinners held?

Weekly, all year round — we host around 52 Shabbat tables a year, plus holiday programming like Pesach and other community celebrations.

How do I RSVP for a Shabbat dinner or event?

Use any "RSVP" button on this page or the Programs page, choose the event you're interested in, and submit your details. Spots fill up, so RSVPing early is recommended.

Is NB Jewish a registered nonprofit?

Yes — NB Jewish (North Beach Jewish Center) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible. Learn more on the Donate page.

What does giving in multiples of 18 ("Chai") mean?

In Jewish tradition, the number 18 spells Chai (חי) — "life." Many donors give in multiples of 18 ($18, $36, $180...) as a blessing for life. Read the full story on our blog.
